How do I let Claude control KiCad?
Adom Hydrogen connects an AI workspace to desktop electronics tools through Adom Bridge. With the KiCad bridge installed, Claude can open KiCad editors and invoke supported checks and exports. You keep your existing KiCad installation and project files. See the Hydrogen setup guide and KiCad bridge reference.
Start with a check you can verify
- Download Hydrogen for a supported Windows PC or Apple Silicon Mac and follow its setup prompts.
- Sign in to Adom and connect Claude Code using your own Claude account. Install KiCad if you have not already.
- Ask the agent to check that Adom Bridge can reach KiCad and to install or configure the KiCad bridge if needed.
- Open a copy of a project and ask: “Run KiCad’s design rule check on this board. Show me the report and explain each violation before editing anything.”
Check the report in KiCad as well as the agent’s explanation. Capabilities depend on the KiCad version and installed bridge; opening an editor does not establish that every operation in it is automated.
Expand the workflow
After the connection works, add component discovery and PCB design assistance. Fusion 360 has a separate bridge with its own setup and supported operations.
